Google Pixel Fold may have been delayed again, this is why

The wait for Google‘s first foldable phone continues for Pixel fans. It has been a while since we have been hearing about the ‘Pixel Fold,’ and we also saw a few unofficial renders of the folding Pixel. The Pixel Fold, which reportedly has already been delayed twice, has been again postponed to the third quarter of 2023, reports The Elec.
South Korean publication, The Elec reports that Google wants to focus on improving the product further. The report says that Google plans to begin the mass production of Pixel Fold starting the third quarter of 2023. So, the folding Pixel of Google will not launch in the first half of the year, as reported earlier.
The Elec reports that Samsung is expected to start production of foldable panels for Pixel Fold around August.
Pixel Fold may use the same display technology as Galaxy Fold Z2
The report suggests that Google is going with a 7.57-inch folding panel for the inner display, while on the outside, the Pixel Fold may come with a 5.78-inch display. The Elec adds in the report that Google might have settled for an older display rather than using the newer technology used in the new Galaxy Z Folds.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Fold4 come with a thinner display, as it ditches the polarizer layer, making the display thin and easy to fold. The report has it that Google would not go with this display. So Pixel Fold could have a similar display as the Galaxy Z Fold2. Further, the Pixel Fold would not come with stylus support.
Last month, a suggested that the Pixel Fold could launch sometime around Google I/O. While the availability around the same time seems unlikely, Google might give us a sneak peek of Pixel Fold at I/O or may announce the folding Pixel along with the Pixel 8 series in October.
