TMC neta killed while trying to stop a scuffle over loud music | India News

MALDA: A 65-year-old local Trinamool Congress functionary died on Tuesday night trying to stop a scuffle between two groups of locals over blaring music at Mothabari in Malda district of West Bengal. Fifteen people have been detained in this connection.
On Tuesday morning, a group from Pathanpara village were playing loud music while passing through Mandalpara village, on their way back from a picnic. Local TMC functionary Afjal Momin along with other villagers protested, leading to a scuffle.
Later in the day, Pathanpara residents returned in larger numbers, armed with bamboo sticks and rods. Momin stepped out to stop the clash but was attacked and lost consciousness. Villagers rushed Momin to Malda Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
