Delhi-based businessman Arjun Jain, one of the organisers of the rave party onboard Mumbai's luxury cruise, will be questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau, sources said to India Today.
32-year-old Jain is the Additional Director of Namas'cray Experience Private Limited.
The management of the event onboard Cordelia cruise's Empress ship, which was supposed to take place from October 2 to October 4, was given to Namas’cray. The organisers are now under the scanner of the Narcotics Control Bureau to find out if they had any knowledge about drugs being brought and consumed on-board during the three-day musical voyage in the Arabian Sea.
Sources said that Arjun Jain, along with his two associates and his firm are now under probe by NCB officials.
Arjun Jain has been the additional director since March 8, 2021 along with Sameer Sehgal and Gopalji Anand, who were made additional directors of the firm on March 15, 2021.
All the three are under the scanner of NCB as they were tasked with selling the tickets, making guest lists, inviting celebs and helping FTV India with the musical events on board.
Arjun Jain and his two associates will soon be called for questioning in connection with the case. The officials have already sought details of guests, permission papers and event details from the event management company, according to sources.
Here's the video invite of the party shared by Namas'cray on Instagram.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan is among the three arrested till now in the rave bust. Sources said other suspects detained in the case would be arrested after the recording of their statement.
NCB's and Cordelia Cruises' statement
“We are investigating the role of organisers. We can’t rule out the possibility as of now,” said a top NCB official to India Today.
Jurgen Bailom on behalf of Cordelia Cruises in a statement said, "Cordelia Cruises is in no way, directly or indirectly, connected to this incident. Cordelia Cruises had chartered its ship for a private event to a Delhi-based event management company. We condemn all acts such as these and will strictly refrain from letting our ship out for similar events in the future."
Arjun Jain's previous record
Jain was in the news a few years ago for bringing international popstar Justin Bieber to Mumbai in 2017 and arranging the Indian leg of his 'Purpose Tour'. More recently, in August, he was arrested and later released on bail for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 5 crore, by promising big returns from another musical event in the country.
Jain is partner, director and additional director of 10 other firms which are mostly into hospitality and event organising. The NCB has also summoned six of the organisers who had planned the cruise party. Jain's partners Sameer Sehgal and Gopalji Anand are also under the NCB scanner as they were tasked with selling the tickets, making guest lists, inviting celebrities and helping FTV India, the main organiser of the event, with the programme.
